In recognition of his performances in the
Formula Palmer Audi Championship last season, 18 year-old Jonathan
Kennard from Tunbridge Wells, Kent has been selected for BRDC
Rising Star membership for 2004, which includes annual junior
membership of the club.
The teenager, who won the penultimate round
of the FPA series before going on to clinch the Autumn Trophy, has
confirmed his plans to compete in the 2004 Visma Software backed
series, and is determined to lift the title and repay the faith
shown in him by the BRDC.
"Obviously I'm delighted and would like to
take this opportunity to thank the BRDC for this opportunity," said
Jonathan. "It's an honour and a privilege to have my
performances noted by a club of such high standard as the
BRDC. Last year was my first full season in senior motor
racing following two years in T-Cars and now, with the BRDC Rising
Star Membership, it's given me an even greater incentive to go out
and win the Championship."
Only 40 drivers are nominated as BRDC
Rising Stars at any one time and selection is by invitation
only. All Rising Stars are supplied with a unique BRDC badge
with their own name incorporated and decals are supplied for the
race car and overalls. It is expected that Jonathan will need
to be available on a number of occasions to carry out promotional
activities and attend club social events as well as receiving
training, targeted at off-track skills throughout the
year.
