BRDC Rising Star Jonathan Kennard has begun his bid for double
victory in the weekends third and fourth rounds of the Visma
Software Formula Palmer Audi Championship at Monza with fastest
time in both official test sessions at the famous Italian Grand
Prix track.
The 18 year-old, who currently lies second in the title chase
following two second places in the opening rounds, posted the
quickest time in the two 30 minutes sessions, which are in
preparation for qualifying tomorrow. The reigning FPA Autumn
Trophy winner from Tunbridge Wells, Kent struggled with a steering
problem in the opening rounds at Brands Hatch last month but with
the problem resolved headed out to Italy in confident mood and
optimistic about his chances to open his 2004 race winning
account.
"The problem I had at Brands was so severe, it was actually a
struggle to keep the car on the track, so two second places were a
real boost, although race wins is really what I'm after. Now
that we've solved the problem, it was like a different car today
and with a renewed confidence I'll be going all out for double
pole's tomorrow and two race wins."
The youngster, who ended last year's series on a high with his
maiden victory in the penultimate round, went on to clinch the
winter series in dominant style and is now determined to win this
year's summer series for his new sponsors Aedas Architects and
Building Surveyors.
